Nothing like getting sick to completely throw off your plans for getting back into the swing of school...
My family passed around a bug over winter break, and I caught it just in time to come back to Indiana (yay... O.o) When I got back on Sunday I felt fine, just a sore throat. However after sleeping in my icebox of a room, I felt like death when I woke up Monday morning, and that continued into Tuesday. And I was going to workout Monday morning... Oh well.
I went to classes, and then saw Catherine at Wesley - she and Mario got engaged! So I got to see her pretty ring and look through bridal magazines with her, and Lisa joined the party when she got there too - Mario was laughing at us, but we had fun :]
We had a shorter orchestra, and evidently Andy needs me to play bass again this semester, and when I got back to the house I was going to go to Kroger since I have no food. However, I decided that sleep was in order for me, so I went ahead and slept instead.
Tuesday I was going to run, but I felt like crap. I already hate being sick, and that bug was throwing off my workout schedule too so it was even more annoying. And I still had no food.
However, I had time until my first class so I took along steamy shower, then went to the grocery store.
And then it was time for my first ballet class! I'm super excited about taking that. After my second class of the day, I went to get ballet stuffs (I needed a leotard, tights and shoes) and a haircut - so now my hair is back to the length I like it at :]
I was hungry when I got back to the house, and I had food! :] I made myself some ravioli and cleaned up my room (like unpacked from break and put the food away - I hadn't yet). All in all it was a rather productive day, I was proud of myself :]
Wednesday I got up and hit the CoRec at 6am, and I was actually feeling good! And then I realized how tired I was... so I slept between EAS and Spanish :]
Then had lunch between Spanish and Stat - these two hour breaks are weird.
Pam scheduled a GABS rehearsal on Wednesday evening, so I told her that I had orchestra and wouldn't be able to go. Once I was at Elliott, I learned that we were ending orchestra early so that GABS could rehearse. So I didn't have any of my things with me. Oops. We got new music and played a song that was super easy, so I did pretty well. Especially well, actually, since I hadn't touched a tuba since early December... :D
Thursday I got up feeling like crap again, which was annoying since I had been feeling good the previous night too. I went for a run, which I had to cut short because my lungs hurt so that was less than fun. And then my voice was all raspy, it wasn't the best or mornings.
But then it was time for ballet - yay! It's really nice to have a class where I can unwind a bit.
I got my lunch at Wesley, and it seems like I could quickly be discovering a routine. I went to math, and then had nothing to do! We had house dinner, and a bunch of people said they would prefer Monday nights instead of Thursdays, so I informed them that I wouldn't be at a single one (unless orchestra were to be cancelled).
Friday I got up and drove to the CoRec, and on the way I discovered that I had no voice. Like at first there wasn't even noise coming through my voicebox. That was a promising start...
I did my workout, and slowly was able to actually make noises again. Thankfully I didn't have to talk all that much in my classes since I sounded just lovely...
I wasn't feeling that bad, I just sounded like a man. Geoff and Joe were making burgers, and they had already gotten me veggie patties so I went over to visit for a bit. Then we played Star Wars Battlefront - I love that game :] The thing was, I usually play with an invincibility cheat because it's fun to just run up to people with a lightsaber and not worry about health, so it was weird actually dying in the game. But I beat them both in kills one round! I was super excited :]
Saturday I was scheduled to work a sound shift, and I said nope, I was still sick. Thankfully it was in the faculty lounges, where it's an easy set up. Normally if I'm on sound in there I'll help with the food because there's nothing for me to do all shift until I tear it back down. I told my coordinator that I would come set everything up but I shouldn't be around food so I left again pretty quick before I could get anyone else sick.
GABS was playing at a thing in the Mollenkopf center (football practice facility) where special needs people int he community could come and throw footballs and twirl batons, it was really fun :] It was also a beautiful day!
After that, it was Reed's 21st birthday on Thursday, so that Saturday evening she had a party at her place :] We watched the football games and played some drinking games, except I was driving so I just had water. Which was entertaining, being the only sober person in the room :]
Sunday I got to sleep in! Until 9. I didn't have anything to do, and I was finally feeling better - you never know how much you like your own voice until a cold holds it hostage - so I played some Lego Star Wars and watched football all morning. I needed some things from Target, though, and when I went outside it was raining ice (not hailing - raining ice). It was gross, I was glad I had been walking with a tuba the previous day and not in that.
That evening at Wesley was Mario's last sermon - he leaves for Boston tomorrow. We're really going to miss him around here.
We had chapter - where it's still weird to see my name as Finances Committee Chair - and then I watched Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory with Geoff - we both enjoy that movie and were laughing :]
Today It's been really cold. I got up to workout and go to classes, staying indoors as much as possible. My face hurts when I step outside, it was that bitter. And I personally think that there comes a point when your health should come before fashon - when you're wearing tights, fashon ankle boots and a peacoat outside when it's in the low teens, I think you should take a serious look at your priorities. (Yes, I saw numerous people dresses like that today.) And then there's me in my coat, jeans and two pairs of socks - otherwise my toes would freeze in my running shoes.
We had a Wesley exec meeting to figure out a few things to start the year rolling, and I've got orchestra later. Other than that, I've got homework to get done. With being off and then being sick, it's hard to get back in the swing of this blogging thing - sorry for the slightly delayed post.
Happy 2013 - congrats on surviving yet another apocalypse! :D
